Yellowstone National Park

Original, hand-drawn story map and accompanying gifts of Yellowstone National Park by renowned Illustrator and Xplorer Maps Co-Founder, Chris Robitaille.

Yellowstone was established in 1872 as America’s first national park - an idea that spread worldwide. Old Faithful and the majority of the world’s geysers are preserved here and they are primarily responsible for the park’s initial designation that encompasses approximately 3,500 square miles and attracts more than 3 million visitors annually. A mountain wildland, home to the grizzly bears, wolves, and herds of bison and elk, it is the core of one of the last, nearly intact, natural ecosystems in the Earth’s temperate zone.

Xplorer Maps chose the world's first National Park - Yellowstone, to debut the ever-growing line of National Park map illustrations. Released in March, 2010, the Yellowstone National Park map highlights the unique geothermal features of the region (including Old Faithful), outlines the integral Native American history, captures the story of the park's official designation and details the region's most studied fauna.
